Overview
Capital and Financing Club is a Boston based volunteer organization.
It connects Asian American companies with investors, capital
sources, and business opportunities. The Club focuses on the
capital and financing aspect of starting up and running a company.
The Club hosts panel discussions, company presentations, entrepreneur
coaching, and networking events. The Club creates activities
that are fun, educational and practical. We have a talk/game
show format for our panel discussions on various subjects.
Capital and Financing Club is part of OCEAN, a Boston based
not-for-profit organization with more than 1000 members. Furthermore,
Capital and Financing Club and OCEAN are affiliated with an
umbrella organization in Boston that includes eight area Asian
American professional organizations with a few thousand members.

The Club's mission is to

to raise capital and financing and for investors and capital
providers to find exciting opportunities
Become Boston's most attractive marketplace for inter-regional
(Asia and New England) acquisitions and investment
Become Boston's most exciting career and talent network for
IT, bio-tech and other service professionals
Management Team
Tony Zhang, Vice President,
Corporate Banking, Citizens Bank. Citizens Bank is part of
Royal Bank of Scotland, the 5th largest bank in the world.
Tony originates, structures and underwrites commercial loans
in support of companies' mergers, acquisitions, buyouts, re-capitalization,
and working capital needs. Before Citizens Bank, Tony was
a Vice President, Corporate Banking at BankBoston and Fleet.
Tony also worked in a technology and financial services consulting
firm, advising and arranging acquisition financing for Asian
companies. Tony holds a BA from Beijing Shida University,
a MA from Beijing Foreign Studies University, and an MBA from
Boston College. Tony enjoys tennis, golf and skiing. Tony
is Chair, Capital and Financing Club.
Yong Cao, Secretary-General, Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs
Association. Yong is an engineer with 20+ years of experiences
in Microelectronics, Industrial Control, Communications, and
Computer Sciences. He received his BSEE and MSCS from Beijing
University of Aeronautics and Astronatics. He is a Ph.D. candidate
from University of Lund, Sweden. In his leisure time, his
enjoys research and innovation on electronic devices and programming.
Yong is Co-Chair, Event Management, Capital and Financing
Club.
Jessica Guo, Financial
Advisor, Global Private Clients Group, Merrill Lynch. Jessica
also holds a designation of Certified Financial Manager at
Merrill Lynch. Prior to Merrill Lynch, Jessica was a senior
management consultant at KPMG Consulting Inc. Before coming
to the states, Jessica was Chief Representative in Shanghai,
China, for Shandwick Asia Pacific Ltd, a British communication
consulting firm. With 12 years of industry and consulting
experience, Jessica is actively involved in the creation of
a diversified event program for the members of the Capital
and Financing Club. Jessica holds an MBA from Boston College
and a BA from Shanghai Foreign Studies University. Jessica
is Co-Chair, Programs, Capital and Financing Club.
Kaibin Wu, Kaibin is Co-Chair,
Accounting, Capital and Financing Club.
Shiwei Zhang, Shiwei is
Co-Chair, Sponsorship, Capital and Financing Club.
Jennier Zhu, Financial
Services Representative, MetLife. Jennifer has been with MetLife
since 1991, growing her practice in the area of group benefit
plans, business continuation, as well as individual financial
needs. A top performer in the group, she has continuously
been a Leaders Conference Qualifier, a member of the Million
Dollar Round Table, and a recipient of the National Quality
Award. Jennifer was formerly Director of President Office
at Shanghai Shaped Tubing Plant and after arriving at the
states, worked at Federal Reserve Bank in Boston. Jennifer
is a Director on the Board of OCEAN and is very involved in
the Asian American community. Jennifer has a M Ed focus on
Business Management from Cambridge College. Jennifer is Co-Chair,
Membership, Capital and Financing Club.
Rick Cram, President,
FullSail Strategic Communications. Rick is an accomplished
strategic communications consultant and professional broadcast
host who has received national and international recognition
for the unique ways he helps companies and individuals more
effectively motivate their most important audiences. Along
with being a host on national cable and PBS, Rick has hosted
hundreds of broadcast quality game shows at exclusive events
from Boston to Las Vegas for such companies as ESPN, Fidelity
Investments, GMAC, Marriott, Verizon and many others. Rick
has a BA from Wittenberg University.
Dr. Hua Jiang, President/CEO
of Boston Applied Technologies Incorporated (BATI). Before
founding BATI, he was President/CTO of Corning Applied Technologies,
a subsidiary of Corning. Dr. Jiang has more than 20 years
experience in research/development and corporate management.
He sits on the board of several organizations, including OCEAN.
Hua Jiang has a PhD from Northeastern University.
Dr. Gang Li, Scientist,
Prime Organics, Inc. Dr. Li received many awards, such as
"Distinguished Scientist" by Chinese National Committee
of Science and Technology in 1991, the Prize in Scientific
and Technical Achievement by The Ministry of Chemical Industry
of China in 1991, and the Chinese National Prize in Scientific
and Technical Achievement by The National Committee of Science
and Technology in 1992. After completing his Ph. D. in bioorganic
chemistry in 1997 from Northeastern University in 1997, Dr.
Gang Li worked at a number of area companies, such as Polaroid,
Biogen, and Scriptgen. Dr, Gang Li is also Co-Founder of Sino-America
Pharmaceuticals Professionals Association-New England Section,
and Co-Founder and President of Oversea Chinese Entrepreneurs
Association, Inc.
Jay Mao, Branch Manager,
Asian American Bank. Jay oversees the bank's flagship Boston
branch operation, customer service, sales and the bank's commercial
lending business at the branch level. Jay started his banking
career at FleetBoston Financial in Boston in 2002. Before
coming to the United States in 2000, Jay was a national account
manager for Viacom in Beijing and worked as reporter, copy
editor, and advertising manager for China Daily in Beijing.
Jay Mao graduated from Boston University's College of Communications
with a M.S. in 2001 and Xiamen University in China in 1997
with a BA in literature.
Bill Ren is Co-Founder
and Architect of mValent, a venture-backed startup developing
IT infrastructure software. Prior to mValent, Bill was with
Bowstreet, a startup company specializing in creating web-automation
and web services tools. Bill was an independent consultant
for a number of years prior to that, serving in various roles
at SEMA, Aspect, and IBM. Bill holds a BS degree in Electrical
Engineering from Shanghai University and a MS degree in Computer
Science and a MS degree in Physics, both from Worcester Polytechnic
Institute.
Dannie Zhang, MBA Candidate,
University of Western Ontario in Canada. She interns this
summer with Rainbow Global Consulting Inc. in Boston, working
on IT projects and Export-Import business. Dannie founded
and ran her own company, Taisheng Decoration Material Co.
in China, after graduating from Beijing Institute of Civil
Engineering and Architecture. She enjoys traveling, reading
and sports.
